This exam is typically used to evaluate a palpable lump, scrotal trauma, pain or swelling (torsion or inflammation), causes of infertility such as varicocele, and to locate an undescended testis.
Lumps inside and outside the testis may be benign or malignant and should be examined as soon as they are noticed.
